Every month there are many more or less serious accidents involving carbon monoxide (CO) as the main factor. Because it is colorless and odorless, it is difficult to smell or detect. And its release into the air we inhale can quickly lead to death. Every year, over 1,000 people are poisoned by this gas, and over 100 die from it. Therefore, it is especially important to prevent such situations. So what should you remember to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning?
First of all, we should remember about proper air circulation, which is to ensure, among others, ventilation grilles. The key to safety in this matter is full attention to the appropriate amount of air exchanged in the rooms. The standards state quite clearly how many cubic meters of air should be exchanged in individual rooms per hour:
- kitchen with gas stoves – 70m³/h,
- bathroom 50m³/h,
- rooms - 20m³/h per resident.
How is this done? Through the appropriate installation of high-quality ventilation grilles with adequate capacity to meet your needs. Thanks to them, the used air goes to the ventilation grilles (in kitchens, bathrooms and toilets). All issues related to the installation of a gas installation or exhaust gas discharge (e.g. from gas cookers or stoves) should also be left to professionals. Performing this type of activities on your own, on your own, in order to save money, is one of the most common causes of accidents, including those with the most tragic consequences.
